Guest Lecture on Mangrove Forest Restoration
Students recently took part in an engaging and educational session on mangrove forest restoration, guided by Ms. Anupama Appukuttan, a seasoned social development professional with over 15 years of experience from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and the London School of Hygiene. She has worked with both the British and US governments.
The session delved into the critical role mangrove forests play in restoring degraded lands, supporting a rich variety of flora and fauna, and bolstering human livelihoods. The students learned about the interconnectedness of these ecosystems and the urgent need to conserve them for future generations. The diversity of species was visibly fascinating, and the children’s spontaneous participation added energy to the experience, making it an even more impactful learning opportunity.
This session served as a powerful reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and the collective responsibility to protect our natural world.
